A Kick!

Last night I was reading to the baby from the Lord of the Rings (I know, I'm a nerd) and I was laying on my stomach (I'm still small enough that that's comfy on a soft bed) and the baby kicked me! I assume it was a kick of approval. Who could not love the Lord of the Rings?

I was reading The Walking Song.

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

It's my favorite of Tolkien's verses, so far.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to feeling many more, and being sure of them.... because part of me wonders if this was just wishful thinking on my part and I didn't feel anything at all.

Oh well, ultrasound on Tuesday! :D

  1. It was a kick. if you felt it while laying on your stomach I think it's especially likely that it was a real kick. at first it's so random it is easy to dismiss them as nothing but trust me. later you will be able to look back with certainty. :D

and then sometimes you will want the kicking to stop for just a bit...or at least be less jabby. and then...then will come the times when you arent sure when you last felt the baby move and you would give anything to be jabbed in the bladder. and then it will happen. and it will suck because you will have just drank half a litre of water. but it will also be awesome.

    pregnancy is a strange thing.

I've only been reading random snippets of Dickens to my kid. and only just recently. David Copperfeild right now. I don't read out loud to him very often though since I do a lot of my reading at work ;p

  3. You'll have to lend me some of those... I always borrowed yours when I wanted to read them :)

I'm thinking of pumping it full of Weird Al and Rhammstein soon.... We started with books and haven't quite gotten to music yet, but the baby's gonna fall asleep to Sehnsucht , I know it, and sing along with The Saga Begins...

complete nerdyness in the making :D
